Call me a writer, wordsmith, storyteller, scribe, hack, scribbler or just a lover of words.

I have had the privilege of interviewing and writing the stories of many individuals. Each one is unique. Here is my story.

I started writing financial press releases and annual reports for public companies as a junior partner in a Madison Avenue financial communications firm. As I moved up the ladder I began accompanying clients to meetings and conferences in the leading financial capitals of the world.

Travelling opened my eyes to the wonderful diversity of people, cultures and cuisines in the world. Food became my entry point to any new city or country. It was also the subject of my first book: Cooking with Adrienne: A Story of Friendship and Food.

Cookbook/Memoir

I hadn’t intended to write a book. My best foodie friend and fellow traveler was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia – a form of dementia that would ultimately rob her of the ability to speak, read or communicate in any way. I scrambled to collect her recipes and write them down, along with her often-hilarious stories from the great chefs who created them. I quickly realized her story needed to be shared with the world.

Gael Greene, New York magazine restaurant critic, wrote: “Adrienne’s passion for cooking comes through so powerfully in this book.”

Another reviewer said: “The story this book tells is both funny and nostalgic! It is worth reading even by those who would rather have someone else cook these dishes for them.”

Co-Author

Writing the first book was so rewarding that I had to find a way to tell other people’s stories. In 2019 I co-authored a book: Mentoring Women Forward: The 2019 Playbook along with Toni Maloney, the CEO and co-founder of the nonprofit Business Council for Peace (Bpeace). We were conducting the Women Forward Awards competition to shine a light on organizations and people who were successful advancing women forward. After interviewing the nominees we realized we had a gold mine of rich detail demonstrating how to move women forward in the world.

One reviewer said: “This is not a theoretical book, it is filled with real life advice from smart savvy business leaders who mentor others to success: analyze, adjust and advance!”

We published an updated book the following year after the second successful awards competition: Women Forward: The 2020 Playbook.

Copyeditor/Coach

Next I worked with Michael Biscoe on an historical fiction novel set in Cyprus in 1956 as Britain, Turkey and Greece were battling for the island’s political future. It was based on Michael’s time as a young man doing National Service for the United Kingdom in Cyprus. I served as copyeditor and coach to keep the characters consistent and create plot lines that would lead to a sequel which is now in the works. I also designed his website and assisted in creating his blog.

Biography

Currently I am working with Martin Riley on a biography about Arthur Haythorne Studd: The Extraordinary Life of a Victorian Painter, Patron and Art Collector. Martin has produced an outline and some research. Together we are co-authoring the book.

Personal

I have two children and two grandchildren who all live in Maine. Currently I split my time between the Cotswolds, New York City and Maine.
